Guidelines For Submitting Artwork to [1308] Shows

OPEN SHOWS

- Please email me ASAP if you are going to submit work for an upcoming show.

- An email will be sent out with specific drop-off times for each show. Generally, work will be accepted the entire week before the opening reception.
Please call or email to set up a time to drop off if the pre-determined drop-off times don't work with your schedule.

- I will hang the work for the open shows myself, however, I might need some help from contributing artists.

-Contributing artists should bring a reception item they would enjoy (such as water, sodas, crackers, cheese, chips, dip, wine, beer, etc.) that others can enjoy as well. Unfortunately, the staff at 1308 can no longer afford to provide these items.

-The following information needs to accompany your work: Title, date, dimensions, media used, and price (if for sale.)
A neatly typed up bio/resume and slide sheet/informational flyer would be beneficial to you as an artist.

-If you want to offer your art for sale, it is your responsibility to handle all of the arrangements. I do not expect any percentage of your sales.

- If we choose to make/send them, everyone will be asked to chip in to help defray the costs of printed invitations (probably about $15 each.)
To have your name included on the invitation, I MUST know you are participating at least 2 1/2 weeks before the reception.

-Gallery hours are by appointment only. If you know for sure that a number of people would come on a Sunday 12-5pm, let me know and that can be arranged. I will generally handle keeping the gallery open in that case, but on occasion, I might need some help from the contributing artists.

-I will create an email-friendly invitation to send in mass to past visitors of 1308 that requested they be put on my e-mailing list.

-I will be happy to forward this e-vite to any contributing artist for them to use at their own discretion. (But keep in mind, this will be a low-res file that will not print well, but will look great via email.)

-Feel free to advertise as you wish with one HUGE exception: There can NOT be any invites/press releases sent to ANYONE from Dallas area mass-media outlets, such as Dallas Observer, Dallas Morning News, etc. (Sorry.)

-Any work brought in the building is done so at the artists' own risk. Anyone affiliated with 1308, including Cyndi Long, her landlord/building owners, her friends, her Mom, and her dog (if she had one) are not responsible for any damages that may ensue. Sorry.

-All work must be picked up within one week of the show's closing. Any work not picked up will become the property of Cyndi Long. (That means she can either keep it, sell it for her own profit, or just throw it away.)

- All artwork must remain a part of the show until the reception is over- if you can't take it with you at 11pm, please make arrangements with me to pick up within a week.

-Every contributing artist will help with the lovely job of cleaning up.

Ideas for a show?? Talk to me about it.

SOLO / SELECTED GROUP SHOWS

- Email me some jpeg's, or a link to your site so I can see your work, and tell me a little about it.
I will try to fit in anyone that seems serious enough about their work.

-Work must be hung (by you- I will help if needed) atleast 24 hours prior to opening reception.

-Openings are USUALLY the 1st Saturday of the month with work coming down the 3rd Sunday of the month.

-The artist / artists should create / address / mail invitations approximately 2 weeks prior to every opening (featuring the title of the show, names of confirmed artists, dates, address, contact phone number, and basic map.)

-I can give you mailing labels of people that have requested to be informed of shows. There can NOT be any invites/press releases sent to ANYONE from media outlets, such as Dallas Observer, Dallas Morning News, etc.

- For "one night only" openings, the artwork must remain a part of the show until the reception is over- if you can't take it with you that night, please make arrangements with me to pick up within a week.
